Subscribers



Since the first issue of the Newsletter, the number of subscribers has increased markedly. The first issue of the Newsletter (September 2004) was sent to 1,538 heterodox economists around the world (Europe: 290, US: 363, Other including Asia, Africa, and Oceania: 127, Latin America: 145, UK and Ireland: 250, URPE: 299, Canada: 64). The total number of subscribers has been constantly increasing since then: 1,757 in November 2004, 3,674 in December 2009, 3,830 in May 2010, 4,194 in December 2010, and 4,480 in December 2011.


There is a number of individuals who receive the Newsletter but are not counted above because they get it through other mailing lists such as AFEE, URPE, Capital and Class, London-HPE, AHE, Historical Materialism, PKSG, etc. All combined, nearly all heterodox economists around the world are receiving the Heterodox Economics Newsletter.



Visitors



The Heterodox Economics Newsletter moved to a commercial web server in April 2008, and this paid service provides some interesting data. One is the number of unique visitors to http://heterodoxnews.com (see the figure above). The number has been increasing, and it peaked in March 2011 (5,839 unique visitors and 9,310 total visits, 17,335 total pages viewed, 62,819 total hits).



Daily Access



There are about 800 unique visitors on the day a new issue is published. The mean number of  visitors per day is 259. Individual issues are accessed by about 1,500 people, and readers are viewing 597 web pages per day (total 18,521 pages) based on March 2010 data.
