RESEARCH GRANT FROM THE FRENCH MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. The University of Lille 1 is offering, as part of the European Doctoral College, a research grant for a thesis carried out at Clersé (UMR-8019 CNRS) starting in October 2007. Duration: 3 years Remuneration: approximately 1250 € net Proposed thesis subject: Firms’ pricing policies and their integration in post-Keynesian growth models The research programme includes: i) identification of the implicit or explicit pricing theories in post-Keynesian growth models; ii) scrutiny of their microeconomic foundations; iii) whether this foundation is necessary; iv) and whether the connection with the macroeconomic side of the growth and distribution models is correct. The research will also focus on determining to what extent the various hypotheses made with regard to firms’ pricing policies determine the major characteristics observed in the macro models: stability-instability, wage led-profit led, stagnationist-expansionist, etc. (the list of questions is clearly not exhaustive). Organisational Structure The doctoral student will join the Keynesian macroeconomic research team, which is led by Laurent Cordonnier and Franck Van de Velde and forms part of the “History of Economic Thought” (“Histoire de la pensée économique”) programme of the Lille Centre of Sociological and Economic Studies (“Centre lillois d’études de recherches sociologiques et économiques”: Clersé UMR-8019, CNRS). The thesis work will be under the direction of Mister Laurent Cordonnier. A thesis co-tutorship with a research director from the university of origin may be possible. Candidatures sought Proposed as part of the European Doctoral College, the offer is addressed primarily at students who obtained a Master’s degree during the 2006-2007 university year from a foreign university within the Bologna area. If no candidature of quality satisfies this criterion, recruitment may be extended to students from French universities other than the University of Lille 1. The jury cannot select a candidate who has not been interviewed. The results of the interview process will be communicated on the same day. Knowledge of French Candidates are required to have a minimal knowledge of French. The interview at the school will be held in French and the thesis must be drafted in French.
