About the HEN Editorial Blog

Welcome to the Heterodox Economics Newsletter Editorial Blog.

The Heterodox Economics Newsletter (HEN) is a scientific community service for the heterodox economics community, providing up-to-date information on publications, conferences, job postings, and other relevant resources. HEN operates since 2004 and has been edited by Jakob Kapeller since 2013. Each issue of the newsletter begins with a short editorial written by Jakob, reflecting on current developments in economics, the state of the discipline, and the politics of academic knowledge production.

This blog collects all editorials from issues #154 (in 2013) up to the most recent issues, now spanning more than 16 years of occasional commenting on econmomics, academic life and the overall ste of things ;-). A main motivation for constructing this blog is the fact that past editorials have often been difficult to recover as they were alive on the web only the final versions of the Newsletter, which also contained a lot of other material, which imposed limits on searchability and the like. Hence, the idea behind this site is to make all the material created over time reachable and searchable.
